I suggest to keep things quick and simple and not make it so painful on yourself. Just set your goal: what do you want, just a date, or a committed relationship. Then practice a nonchalant sentence like, “hey, are you busy on so-and-so evening? what do you say we go and (do something fun) then finish off with (dinner at your house or a nice restaurant)”. Try asking her in person, but if you won’t see her soon enough a phone call should do it as well. If you get the answering machine, just say hi and tell her to call back, then ask her when she’s on the phone. Don’t chat, just invite, then hang up. You’ll have plenty to chat about once you get the appointment.

Then when you sit down with her for dinner, openly explain what your intention is. You can say something as simple as “You’re a great girl and I’ve been thinking a lot about you lately. What do you say we take this friendship forward to a new level?” Minimise the tension by saying “you don’t have to give an answer now… take your time to consider it and get back to me when you know for sure.” If the girl’s had a good time with you, she most likely will just say yes. But if she’s a careful thinker, don’t get nervous if she does take the few days to come back with an answer. Stay positive, always be nice and open to her, and always act as the man that she truly deserves.
