Hi, i’d like to learn to dance ballroom with my partner in london on sundays (we only see each other at weekends) and we’d like some classes that arent too expensive that would teach us the basics, like foxtrot, waltz , cha cha etc, for beginners, as neither of us have danced before. but googling is a nightmare- theres so much! are there any online directories or could anybody recommend anything. preferably we’d like to pay as we go. any ideas?

Why Do Very Few Young Men Go for Ballroom Dance Lessons?

I’m a 24 year old guy that started going for ballroom dance lessons. Let me tell you my story on why I decided to do this. I’ve been shy all my life, especially around girls. At parties, I would refuse to dance because I was so embarrassed since I don’t know how to move at all. When I was in high school, I was the only person to chicken out and never go to school dances. I’ve gotten to the point of my life where I’m tired of hiding under my shell and decided to start to go for ballroom dance lessons. I’ve been going for both private and group lessons for about 2 weeks now and I’m enjoying it. I’m learning the steps real quickly, but I still need to learn how to lead. But that will improve as I take more lessons.

Anyways, I went to two group lessons so far and there are absolutely no men that are my age there. The first lesson, there were a few men who are in their 40s and 50s. The second lesson, absolutely no men whatsoever. Only me! I mean, wow! The reason I started to go for dance lessons is because I thought I was the only man that is too chicken to dance. I mean, I’m always one of the few men at parties that would refuse to take a step onto the dance floor.

So, why aren’t there that many young men in their 20s who go for ballroom dance lessons?
